| The wedding was beautiful and everything I hoped a wedding could be: fantabulously fun! Despite its low budget, I daresay the event was full of first-class food, ambiance, and people; the chinese lanterns also give it a nice touch.
The honeymoon is over and we're back to normal life...sort of . I'm enrolled at USC for a masters in public health and am living at the Arribas residence. David's kept his lab job and is currently working on his grad. school application to CalPoly animal science program while living in San Diego. The 2 hrs of driving between us is difficult since we're both terribly in love. Though we get to see each other every weekend, the logistical qualms of a long-distance relationship can be tiresome; especially the lonely nights.

| i LOVE neurobiology............but not being paid sucks. Tonight after work, i have to train with Lindsay on neuroleucida . I tried to finish the scanziani papers but the 2001 article regarding somatic feed-forward inhibition is particularly hard to read- and i havent started the 2004 paper. On a lighter note, i bought tickets to the old globe and tomorrow David and I are going to watch the Two Gentlemen of Verona. hopefully i'll get some time to catch up on my shakespeare tonight after training, making dinner, and gym time. Dave is gradually recovering from his cold-----which like the tornado that hit new york, was sudden, unexpected, and painful (for both him and myself). | | |
| how that i haven't much to do at work........ i get TONS of free reading time of course my daily 3 hours of scouring the news (the environmental section is always....ALWAYS so morbidly depressing) currently I am also working on: -Stolen Lives by Malika Oufkir -The Big Over Easy | | |
| so far this summer, my saving for school (subtract usual food & rent expenses) is approximately $1600! Yay, this means I don't have to work part-time during fall quarter-- thankfully since I have 2 lab courses (within the usual 4) plus an UNPAID internship with prof. scanziani. True this mean I won't be living it up, but i'll be dedicating times to things I love. I've fulfilled most of my current goals and my most recent ambition is grad school before med school. with a masters in public health and a license to practice I hope to work to control infectious diseases with the world health organization! i feel this, in particular, is a very important field due to the environmental and climatic changes caused by global warming that enhance the spread of both disease and disease-carrying vectors.
Since David also plans to go to graduate school, I fear our first year of marriage is going to be apart. hopefully, after grad school (should we decide to take some time off), we will partake in the peace corp. opportunity together (i'm so glad they pair off married couples). I have no qualms marrying him-- despite our age. He is intellectual, devoted, kind, patient, and sensitive; the entire two years of knowing him (and a year of living with him) we've never had our downs. we've never stayed angry for more than a hour and our arguments are only about our quirky preferences regarding contemporary art, the origins of mongooses, motorcycle speeds, etc. I love him more and more each day. | | |
